About

Gambling Lambs is a games night held on the first Thursday of every month, downstairs at Lee Rosy’s Tea Room in Nottingham, between six and ten in the evening. We started doing it in August 2009, and it’s been getting busier ever since.

Bring stuff, meet people, play things. Board games, DS, PSP, card games, laptop LANs, pen and paper RPGs, word games, whatever you like to play, it’s welcome here (as long as it’s legal).

Got something you really want to play? Or even something you’ve made and want to test? Bring it down and we’ll help! We play games of all kinds, we like to modify and experiment with them, and occasionally we’ve designed them from scratch.

We’re interested in playfulness. It’s a way of exploring and learning about stuff, and tends to make us feel happier. Play can make mundane things better; give people some simple rules and they’ll suddenly come up with all kinds of competitive and creative behaviour. It fascinates us and we want more of it.

We started out with a DS night, which involved lots of tea, Mario Kart, and swearing. In the past few months we’ve had penchants for Carcasonne, Fluxx, Shogi, and Werewolf. You could bring down lego, microcontrollers, or cameras to play with as far as we’re concerned. Whatever you want to mess around with and talk about, it fits.

It happens on the first Thursday of every month, and there’s no charge to get in (or out). Just bring your good self, your bad self, your games, and your friends. We don’t bite, except during games of Werewolf…
